Die casting · from 150 parts a year
Die casting for small batches: the mould that pays for itself
From about 150 parts a year die casting beats machining from solid. The LAGA mould system cuts mould cost up to 70%; 12 presses from 150 to 1200 t at qualified partners; machining of functional surfaces, treatments, painting and assembly from one supplier.

A mould designed for few parts
A conventional mould is justified by tens of thousands of parts. Our mould system puts the part cavity in a reusable mould base: only what changes is built, and the mould costs up to 70% less. So die casting pays off from about 150 parts a year: unit cost falls with volume, about 90% of raw material is saved compared with machining from solid, and only functional surfaces are machined.
The process
From drawing to finished part
| Co-design | Review of the drawing for casting: draft angles, wall thickness, radii, position of machined features. We tell you at once whether, and from how many parts, it pays off. |
|---|---|
| Mould | LAGA mould system, cost up to 70% lower. The mould belongs to the customer and is held on loan at the partner. |
| Die casting | At qualified partners: 12 presses, 150-1200 t. High series repeatability. |
| Sand casting | For large parts or even lower quantities: aluminium and cast iron castings from our own patterns, at qualified partners. |
| Machining and finishing | In house: DMG MORI ecoMill 50 and MILLTAP 700, Haas VF-2SSYT and UMC-500SS. Treatments at Nadcap-accredited partners; liquid and powder painting in house, qualified by Leonardo Elettronica. |
| Inspection | In-house X-ray for casting soundness, Hexagon CMM, salt spray, full traceability. FAI to EN 9102 when required. |

FAQ
Questions we are asked most often
From how many parts does die casting pay off?
From about 150 a year. Send us the drawing: we quote the part machined from solid and die cast, mould cost included, and you see where the break-even is.
Who owns the mould?
The customer, who pays for it once. It stays on loan at the partner that casts.
And if volumes grow?
The same mould and the same drawing follow the part: up to 1,000 parts per batch, six weeks with an annual schedule.
What is the minimum batch?
From one part. We deliver batches from 1 to 1,000 parts.
What is the typical lead time?
Six weeks with an annual schedule agreed in advance.
